Feb 6, 2015 · The SS-Vette's fenders are very well made and most importantly they fit as well as OEM. They are less that half the cost of the OEM CF. They also sell a pair of fender liner extensions for around $100. They make everything, nose, fenders, quarters, fender liners, etc., in normal and 'extra-wide' configurations. And I've got American ones, Mexican ones, Japanese ones and Chinese ones - some are very expensive and some are cheap. If they play good, I keep them, if they don't, I get rid of them. The point is, if you like the way it looks and feels, see if you like the way it sounds.
The only comparison I have seen to the playability of this neck was on a vintage 1977 Stratocaster. The finish on this guitar is great. It allows some of the natural wood to show through and will wear nicely. In today's market with some after market upgrades this guitar will be much nicer than a Chinese Fender for nearly double the price.

I have seen some talk/write bad about Chinese, and likewise some talk bad about Indonesians. Having both, I see no descernable difference in quality between the two countries.

The Affinity models, except for some early ones tend to be slightly less than on other Fender/Squier models as is the width of the body. This can feel different if you are used to a standard Fender neck. I don't have any experience of the Taiwan model, but hope this helps.

There is generally a bit more time spent in QA on American Fenders but it's not to say Mexican Fenders are slouches. Both factories make good basses. The new American Fenders have some nice hardware and pickuos that comes stock. However aftermarket options exist to drop into any Fender, Mexican or otherwise .
